Re: General Permit Request, Cedar Island Homeowner's Association, Wilmington, NC
Dear Debbie,
On behalf of the Cedar Island Homeowner's Association, we are requesting a CAMA General Permit to replace
the existing 30' span single lane concrete bridge with a new 40' span single lane concrete bridge. The bridge
span will be increased by 5' each side to allow the new piles to be driven landward of the existing bridge
abutments. The new bridge will be supported by epoxy coated steel H-piles. The existing abutment zone on
each bridge approach will be stabilized via high density polyurethane foam injections covering an area of 30' X
20'. The foam injections will prevent the need for any abutment work and will relieve the lateral load demand
from the existing abutments. The existing bridge will be demolished and properly disposed of offsite.

Dear Debbie,
On behalf of the Cedar Island Homeowner's Association, we are requesting a Field Modification to an existing
CAMA General Permit to replace the existing 30' span single lane concrete bridge with a new 40' span single
lane concrete bridge. The pile layout shown on the previous CAMA permit drawings remains the same. The
bridge width is increased from 15'-0" to 18'-0". This is accomplished by cantilevering the pile cap an additional
V-6" each side. All other aspects of the bridge replacement remain unchanged.
