The bridge span will be increased by 5' each side to allow the new piles to be driven landward of the existing bridge abutments. The new bridge will be supported by epoxy coated steel H-piles. The existing abutment zone on each bridge approach will be stabilized via high density polyurethane foam injections covering an area of 30' X 20'. The foam injections will prevent the need for any abutment work and will relieve the lateral load demand from the existing abutments.
