Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

The board has noted and there have been numerous reports of boats bottoming out and keels hitting bottom in the
Main Canal, even on smaller boats and especially on low tides. Additionally, the width of the Main Canal has narrowed
significantly to the point two average size boats are unable to pass.
Jeff Schmucker & Alvin Paul conducted a depth survey of the canal —survey on the back shows the amount of dredging
which would be required to attain at low tide a 4.0' depth for the center 25' of the canal and 3.5' depth for 12.5' of each
edge. The 1,000 yd.' dredge permit limit will be consumed attaining these depths. Historically, the canal was
maintained at a 5' depth for the entire 50' width — additional dredging in the future will be necessary to re -attain.
A late fall 2017 vote for dredging was approved by the water front owners for a cost of $27,000 to be paid by a $642
assessment per water front lot. The request for the assessment has been delayed due to attempts to attain approval for
the building of a Jetty (a rock jetty was not approved by CAMA and a vinyl wall jetty was too expensive). Hurricane
Florence & contractor availability further delayed dredging. We have finally attained a contractor, Eric Pake Jr.
Construction, which will attempt to have the dredging completed by year end.
Note: The cost for dredging has increased significantly over the past couple of years. One of the new cost of dredging is
debris disposal (—$7,000). Fortunately, Dave Brisson will accept the debris as filler for his lot on Twin Oak Lane;
therefore, eliminating this cost -the assessment would have to of been substantially more. Thank you Dave!

before the start of dredging.
