Here are pictures of the damage to the dock, and the walkway from the house to the dock, that occurred during Hurricane Florence last Fall. It has taken this long to get any work done, but we are currently planning to repair the dock using the same footprint and with the same materials. There are a few pilings that were driven deeper by the cantilevered dock surface that need to be lifted up or replaced. The demolition and piling work are planned for next week, and the dock surface at the end of the month. I am requesting a permit for that work. In addition, we are planning landscaping repairs: we lost every pine tree and most of our live oaks. One consideration is replacing the walkway from the house to the dock with pervious pavers. The walkway was lifted out of position by the storm surge as shown in the photos. There are also several areas of bare dirt directly under the porches on the front and back of the house where we are hoping to use the same pervious pavers so it's not bare dirt and weeds. Is that also something that needs permitting, or are pervious pavers OK? Thank you again for your attention to this project. The replacement, reconstruction and maintenance excavation activities shall conform to current standards and rules.
