Project Description - Provide a short summary of the project The Town of Atlantic Beach annually completes dredging of channels to ensure safe travel of commercial and recreational boaters to, from, and around Atlantic Beach, as well as use of the channels for access by first responders. 4. Project Scope — Brief description of the project scope what is being proposed) and Justification why is it being proposed There are five areas that need to be dredged this year: Royal Channel (296cy), New Causeway Channel (333cy), Anchorage Channel (666cy), and two sections of Causeway Channel (444cy and 296cy). There is likely additional yardage of dredging that will be needed at one or more of the locations, so this project includes a contingency budget for a maximum of 3000cy. This will keep the waterways usable for the boaters and first responders. 5. Existing Conditions - Brief description of existing site conditions and land use within project area Typical seasonal cycles can render these channels difficult to navigate through shoaling, but Hurricane Florence added to this significantly in 2018. The surrounding land is primarily residential, but there are several large marinas and commercial operations that rely on certain water depths to continue functioning. 6.
