photograph below (yellow line). The total
length of the marsh toe revetment will be
approximately 200 linear feet.
The marsh toe revetment will be
constructed by layering oyster shell bags
perpendicular to the shoreline, no more
than 6 feet waterward of the erosion
escarpment and no higher than 6 inches
from the elevation of the existing marsh
substrate. Coir fiber/jute matting will be
used for the bottom layer of the marsh toe
revetment.

Project Description
The location of the proposed oyster shell bag marsh toe revetment at the property shown to
the left is shown in the photograph below (yellow line). The total length of the marsh toe

Proposed Marsh Toe Revetment
Dear Sirs:
Attached are copies of the "Adjacent Riparian Property Owner
Notification/Waiver Form" and "Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Statement" I
receive on December 26, 2018. These are in connection with property owned by
Charles Tara. My wife and I are owners of the adjoining property to the north of
this tract, at 4700 San Juan Circle, Morehead City.
My telephone call a week ago to the agent listed on the form has not been
returned.
I have one conditional objection to this project. If the contractor or persons
performing the work on this project will be crossing our property in order to gain
access to the waterline area (other than the street right of way), I must object to
this project. If the contractor and persons performing the work will be gaining
access to the waterline only through the street right of way and the Tara's
property, I have no objection to the project.
Our yard is very soft and will not support vehicles and equipment. We have
underground water and electric lines running from our residence to our pier,
which would be subject to damage from equipment due to the soft, wet soil.
I respectfully ask that approval of the permit request be conditioned on the
contractor and personnel performing this work gaining access to the waterline
solely through the owner's property and not across adjoining property.
