It would involve the replacing markers with buoys around the Morehead City Port No Wake Zone perimeter to reestablish a marked boundary for public notification and enforcement purposes. We are looking to replace (6) No Wake Zone markers around the Morehead City port, that were established for public safety by authority of 15A NCAC 10F .0330 (a) 10 & 13, and were lost as a result of Hurricane Florence. Some of the markers were fixed on pilings, but our intent is to replace with floating buoys tethered to concrete anchors resting on the bottom in the same locations as the original markers. Waters impacted would be the mouth of the Newport River, Bogue Sound and the Morehead City Harbor Channel as delineated on the attached map. Lat-Long coordinates for the six buoy placements are as follows: 34.716182 N, 76.707018 W 34.714113 N, 76.707379 W 34.711055 N, 76.704647 W 34.709842 N, 76.693630 W 34.711036 N, 76.688699 W 34.723760 N, 76.689110 W This permit request is on behalf of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and I would be acting as the agency agent.
