Waterfront a Safe Haven for -Transient Boaters as well as a Alice
Park Area for Residents and Visitors
RECO GCIE. DATIONS
The Town Council Should Hire an Architect/Planner to Develop
the Following Proposal into the Historic Needs of Edenton and
Chowan County
Specific Recommendations
• Construction of a Breakwater to Protect the Existing Bulkhead as
Well as Provide a Safe Haven for Boats
• Repair Work to the Existing Bulkhead with Special Attention to
the two Cut -In Areas- First
• Phase in A Boardwalk and Fishing -Pier as Part of the Breakwater
• Removal of the Volleyball Court, Shuffleboard and Stage Area
• Construct a 20 x 50 Pavilion to be used for Picnics, Farmers
Market and Special Events
• Construction of a New Restroom Facility Including Shower
Hookups
• Construction of a Recreation Department Administrator/Dock
Master Building where Boaters can Check- In and the
Administrator can Oversee the Whole Facility
• Gazebo Should be Saved
• A Buffer Area of Shrubs Around- the -Main Lift Station as well as
the Pump Out Station
• Relocation of the Tree Memorial to- a Less- Obstructive Site on the
Waterfront such as the Center of Queen Anne Park with benches
so people can enjoy
• Leave the Weathervane Where Tt is
• Design of Appropriate Lighting for Park
• Relocation of the Police Department now and the 911 Office when
the Fiber Optics are Redone to Another Area so the Town can
lease that Building to a Commercial Developer
• The Developer would be Responsible for Improvements and the
Building would revert back to the Town at the end of the Lease
• Sunfish Park Area needs Immediate Attention and Repairs which
will be long-term and.Aesthetically Pleasing
• A Rack System for Boat Storage alongwith a Brick Fence along the
front should also be put in place and the Bulkhead at Sunfish Park
needs Immediate Attention
• The Town Needs to Hire a Contractor to Remove the Tug if the
Wiggins Estate does not Take Care of Immediately
• Temporary Parking Take Place on the Grassy Area in Front of the
NE Building for Special Events
• The Building the NE Leases which has been great for the Town be
used for Commercial Development when Lease is up
• Encourage Private Development of the Smith and Leary Properties
for shops, restaurants,.. museums, inns,_ etc.
• Placement of the Rescue Squad Boat on a lift at the New Docking
Facility
