Thank you, Sir, very much for your quick response. My original washed away stairs were oriented
90 degrees to the right from the walkway parallel to the shoreline. I basically will re-build exactly
what I had. I will complete a drawing for your review approval.

Thank you sir. If there is room along the oceanward side of the residence to orient the steps so they are parallel to the
shoreline,then that it the way they should be constructed. The goal is to eliminate any potential hazards that may
restrict emergency vehicle access along the ocean front shoreline. I'm happy to discuss this with you in greater detail if
you desire.
As for authorizing the staircase,all I need is a simple drawing showing the existing residence and decking,the location of
the erosion escarpment and the proposed steps. Also, on that drawing, please provide your name, property address and
your mailing address so I can send you a letter of exemption.
Lastly, repairs to existing support structures are not considered development unless the repairs exceed 50%of the
replacement cost of the structure, so you should be fine sistering a few pilings or replacing some of the joist,etc.

I obtained a copy of CAMA permit requirements from Town of Surf City today. I
have two questions, please kindly clarify:
1. My oceanfront house has an existing walkway luckily remains after hurricane,
but stairs were washed away.
a. Can I rebuild stairs off the walkway straight out towards ocean?
b. Or, am I required to build stairs sideway to the right of left parallel to
ocean then down to beach?
c. May I repair & replace a couple of columns under the existing remaining
walkway?
2. Repair of Siding shows on the list of requirements as NO permit required.
Insulation on the list, however, requires permit.
a. Is permit required for installing insulated sheets outside the house
between siding panel and existing plywood wall of the house as a part of
siding material?
