Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local

Dear Mr. Lane:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is proposing to place additional rip
rap in an area measuring approximately 10' x 115' landward of the existing riprap revetment on the
southern shoreline of Snow's Cut beneath NHC Bridge # 30 in Carolina Beach. No permits are
required from the N.C. Division of Water Resources nor from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Please find attached:
1. Copy of the letter sent to the adjacent riparian property owner ( USACE either side)
2. Copy of signed and returned adjacent riparian property owner notification form and green
card from the certified mail notice

The department anticipates that a permit fee of $200.00 will be charged to the subject WBS

There are deck drains on the bridge which drain water from the bridge to either Snows Cut or high ground areas under the bridge.

The bridge will continue to function as it is functioning now as there are no plans to alter traffic patterns, even temporarily. The purpose is to
replenish voids in the existing riprap revetment without altering the overall slope and address the scour behind the existing revetment by
adding additional riprap landward of the existing revetment.

Describe the proposed construction methodology, types of construction equipment to be used during construction, the number of each type
The base for the additional riprap will consist of class IV with class II riprap used to fill in voids. Although the proposed landward
section of additional riprap will have a relatively flat slope, the existing revetment will maintain it's approximately 3:1 slope.
Equipment necessary for the placement of the additional riprap will include an excavator, backhoe, and dump trucks. All work
will be conducted above the NHW level. All equipment will be stored within the RAN on high ground. A barge may be required to
import class IV riprap.
d.
List all development activities you propose.
Replenish existing voids in existing riprap revetment as maintenance and repair. Extend existing revetment approximately 10'
landward.
