The existing bulkhead is 133 feet in length and the proposed extension is 108 feet in length. A 404 wetland delineation was performed by LMG staff. Mr. Brennan Dooley of the US Army Corps of Engineers verbally confirmed the delineation and is currently processing the Jurisdictional Determination. The planned extension of the bulkhead is designed to address on-going erosion along Bald Head Creek in that location. The bulkhead extension is planned to remain at least three feet landward of the approved 404 wetland delineation so as to avoid any wetland impact. Standard marine construction methods will be utilized in the construction of the bulkhead extension including a vertical bulkhead wall, cap, tie-back rods and deadmen. Necessary upland soil material will be used to backfill the constructed bulkhead extension.The backfill will be then stabilized with vegetation. Enclosed are site maps and the $200 application fee. We are in the process of notifying adjacent riparian landowners and will forward you the green cards once they are received.
