Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that I) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certifythat this project is consistentwith the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Dear Mr. Thomas:
Reference your application regarding the construction of a 12' x 13' boatlift located at 1603
Front Street, in Beaufort, Carteret County, North Carolina. The project will also involve the
removal of existing pilings from the water body.
On March 16, 2005, we renewed general permit No. 197800056, (copy enclosed), that
authorizes the maintenance, repair, construction and installation of piers, docks, boathouses and
boat shelters, mooring piles, dolphins, jetties and breakwater structures in navigable waters of the
United States, in the State of North Carolina, pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors
Act of 1899.
Your work is authorized provided it is accomplished in accordance with your submitted plans,
the enclosed general conditions and the following special condition:
1. The proposed work is located within the Corps Federally Authorized Channel Setback.
The permittee must remove the three western -most existing pilings that are located
within the channel. The pilings to be removed are shown on the attached photograph.
Your proposed work is authorized if you can comply with all permit conditions. Please read
the enclosed permit to prevent an unintentional violation of Federal law. As this Department of
the Army regional general permit does not relieve you of the responsibility to obtain any other
required approvals, you should contact appropriate State and local agencies before beginning
work.
