After speaking with your contractor, Mark of Carolina East Construction, about your proposed project, I have
determined that it will not be nece.sary for you to file an application for a minor development permit under the
Coastal Area Management Act. I Iiave determined that the activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor
development permit as long as it o teets the conditions specified below for accessory uses under 15A NCAC
07K.0209 (a) and General Statute! 113A-103(5)b.6. If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet
these conditions, please contact roe before proceeding.
Accessory Uses
1. The placement of the stEiis must not involve removal, damage, or destruction of threatened or endangered
animal or plant species.
2. The placement of the steps must not after naturally or artificially created surface drainage channels.
3. The placement of the steps must be consistent with all applicable use standards and local land use plans in
effect at the time the exemption is granted.
This exemption to CAMA permit mquirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any other State,
Federal or Local authorization. Thy, steps will require a Building Permit from the Town of Morehead City. The permit
application is attached. This exemution.expires 90 days from the date of the letter.
