and Natural Resources and the Coastal Resources Commission for development
in an area of environment concern pursuant to Section 113A-118 of the
General Statutes, "Coastal Area Management
Issued to Town of Emerald Isle, authorizing development in the Ocean Hazard (AEC) at the Santa Maria Ocean
Walkway between 6813 and 6815 Ocean Drive, in Emerald Isle, as requested in the permittee's application, dated
September 15th. This permit, issued on October 7, 2008, is subject to compliance with the application and plats labeled
D1-D5 (where consistent with the permit), all applicable regulations and special conditions and notes set forth below.
Any violation of these terms may subject permittee to aline, imprisonment or civil action, or may cause the permit to be
null and void.
This permit authorizes: installation of a 6' cantilevered bench.
(1) All proposed development and associated construction must'be done in accordance.with the permitted work plat
drawings(s) dated received on September 16, 2008.
(2) Any change or changes in the plans for development, construction, or'land use activities will require a re-evaluation and
modification of this permit.
(3) . A copy of this permit shall be posted or available on site. Contact this office at (252)808-2808 for a final inspection at
completion of work.
(4) Pursuant to 15A NCAC, Subchapter 7J.0406(b), this permit may not be assigned, transferred, sold or otherwise disposed
of to a third -party.
(5) All construction must conform to the NC Building Code requirements and all other local, State and Federal regulations, and
applicable local ordinances.
This permit action may be appealed by the permittee or other qualified persons
within twenty (20) days of the issuing date. From the date of an appeal, any
work conducted under this permit must cease until the appeal is resolved. This
permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the
project is inspected for compliance. Any maintenance work or project
modification not covered under this permit, require further written permit
approval. All work must cease when this permit expires on:
DECEMBER 31, 2011
In issuing this permit it is agreed that this project is consistent with the local Land
Use Plan and all applicable ordinances. This permit may not be transferred to
another party without the written approval of the Division of Coastal
Management.

I acknowledge that the land owner is aware that the proposed development is planned for an area which may be
susceptible to erosion and/or flooding. I acknowledge that the local permit officer has explained to me the particular
hazard problems associated with this lot. This explanation was accompanied by recommendations concerning stabilization
and floodproofmg techniques.
PERAUSSION TO ENTER ON LAND:
I furthermore certify that I am authorized to grant and do in fact grant permission to the local permit officer and his agents
to enter on the aforementioned lands in connection with evaluating information related to this permit application.
This application includes: general information (this form), a site drawing as described on the back of this application, the

The proposed project to be located and constructed as described

quirement pursuant to 15 NCAC 7K .0203. This exemption to
CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of
your obtaining any other State, Federal, or Local authorization.
This certification of exemption from requiring a CAMA permit is
valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Following expiration,
a re-examination of the project and project site may be necessary

Any person who proceeds with a development without the con-
sent of a CAMA official under the mistaken assumption that the
development is exempted, will be in violation of the CAMA if there
is a subsequent determination that a permit was required for the
development.
The applicant certifies by signing this exemption that (1) the ap-
plicant has read and will abide by the conditions of this exemp-
tion, and (2) a written statement has been obtained from adjacent
landowners certifying that they have no objections to the
proposed work.

Dear Alesia Sanderson:
The NC Division of Coastal Management hereby acknowledges receipt of your application for
State approval for minor development at the Santa Maria Ocean Walkway located between 6813
and 6815 Ocean Drive. It was received as complete on September 19, 2008, and appears to be
adequate for processing at this time. The projected deadline for making a decision is October 10,
2008.
NCGS 113A-119(b) requires that Notice of an application be posted at the location of the
proposed development. Enclosed you will find a "Notice of Permit Filing" postcard which must
be posted at the property of your proposed development. You should post this notice at a
conspicuous point. along your property where it can be observed from a public road. Some
examples would be: Nailing the notice card to a telephone pole or tree along the road right-of-
way fronting your property; or at a point along the road right-of-way where a private road would
lead one into your property. Failure to post this notice could result in an incomplete application.
An onsite inspection will be made, and if additional information is required, you will be notified.
