Dear Mr. Pilson:
we have received your proposal for development regulated by the Coastal
Area Management Act (CAMA). The activity you propose is exempt from needing a
Minor Development Permit as long as it meets the conditions specified below.
If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet these
conditions, please contact me before proceeding.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY: Construction of an 80 sq. ft storage shed.
Accessory Structures: Accessory buildings customarily incident to an
existing structure are specifically excluded from the definition of development
if the work does not involve filling, excavation, or the alterattdn of any sand
dune or beach az set out in G.S. 113A-103(5)(b)(6). Accessory buildings shall
be subordinate in area an purpose to the principal structure and shall not
require or consist of the expansion of the existing structure as defined by an
increase in footprint or total floor area of the existing structura. A
building with a footprint of 100 square feet or less shall be considered an
accessory building as long as it is incident and subordinate to the principal
structure. The accessory structure must not require electrical or plumbing or
other service connections.
This certificatioa of exemption from requiring a LAMA Minor Development Permit
is valid for ninety (90) days from the date of issuance. Fallowing expiration,•
a review of the project and project site may be necessary to renew this
certification.
