We have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the
necessity of filing an application for a minor permit under the Coastal Area Management
Act. The activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor permit as long as it meets
the conditions specified below. If your plans should change and your project will no longer
meet those conditions, please contact me before proceeding.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY AND CONDITIONS: According to your application, you
propose to construct a second story to the existing single family dwelling located more
than 40' from the normal high water mark at 109 Hoop Pole Creek Dr.
All development shall be located at least 40 feet of the normal high water mark and shall
not exceed 30% impervious coverage within 75 feet of the normal high water mark. No
ground disturbance or land disturbing activity shall occur within 40 feet of the normal high
water mark. The development shall be consistent with all other applicable CAMA permit
standards, North Carolina Building Code standards, local ordinances and local land use
plans in effect at the time the exemption is granted.
This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your
obtaining any other State, Federal or Local authorization. This exemption expires one (1)
year from the date of this letter.

a second story and an entry way to their home. As part of the construction is
within the 75' 0" AEC (area of environmental concern), North Carolina requires
that you be notified of the project.
It would be a great help to the Alford's .if you could sign the enclosed form as
soon as possible so they can emceed with their project. The proposed
construction is shown on the form. As you can see, there is minimal
enlargement to the foot print of the structure.
