We have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your request to construct a pier, and/or boatlA and
find you are exempt from needing a Minor Development Permit as long as it meets the specifications below:
Your letters have been received and are on file in this office to the adjoining property owners to
advise of the project:
All pilings shall be a minimum of 6"x6" square and shall have an 8' minimum tip penetration.
Prior to construction, piling depths must be certified, either by an engineer or having the building
inspector on site at the time of piling placement;
Construction must conform to all applicable state and local construction requirements as illustrated
in Bogue Sound Pier/Boat Lift Specifications (Section 6-84);
A pier must not exceed 100' in length from normal high water mark, or 4' of water at low tide, not to
exceed 200 square feet for the tee; nor shall the pier exceed 6' in width at any point; and limited to two
boat slips (including common pier);
The platform of the tee may not cover marshlands; and the pier must be elevated at least 3' above the
marsh substrate measured to the bottom of the decking.
Any variation of the abmce will require a CAMA permit; also, this certification of exemption from requiring a
CAMA Permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Following expiration, a re-examination of the
project and project site may be necessary to renew this certification.
Sincerely,
Carol Angus
