If your project I in the Ocean Hazard AEC:
1) The petrnttee is required to omtad Local Permit Officer shortly before he plans to begin oonstruction to arrange a setback measurernart which will be effective for sixty
(60) days barring a major shoreline change. Construction must begin within sixty (60) days ofthe determination or the measurement is void and must be redone.
2) Any structure within the Ocean Hazard AEC shall be relocated or dismantled when it becomes imminently threatened by changes in shoreline eonfiguratien. The
structure(s) shall be relocated or dismantled within two years ofthe time when d becomes imminently threatened, and in any case upon its collapse or subsideaom However
if natural shoreline recovery or beach Raw rishmmt takes place within two years ofthe time the structure becomes imminently threatened so that the structure is no longs
imminently threatened, then d need not be relocated or dismantled at that time. This condition shall not affect the permit holder's right to seek authorization of temporary
protective measures allowed under the Coastal Resources Commission Rules.
3) In order to avoid unreasonable danger to life and property, all development shall be designed and placed so as to minim; damage dueto fluctuations in ground devatio
and wave action in a 100 year storm Cantilevered decks and walkways shall meet this standard or shall be designed to break -away without structural damage to the main
structure. Any building constructed within the ocean hazard area shalt comply with the North Carolina Building Cade ntcuding the Coastal and Flood Plant Construction
Standards, Chapter 34, Volume I or Section 39, Volume 1-B and the local flood damage prevention ordinance as required by the National Flood Insurance Program. Nany
provisions ofthe building code or a flood damage prevention ordinance is inoauistent with any ofthe AEC standards, the more restrictive provision shall control.
4) The structure must be set baek4, 0 feet from the first Ime of stable, natural vegetation. -
5) The structure must be located artirely offthe &natal dune, and, if a primary dune is present, behind the crest ofthe primary dune.
6) The structure must be elevated on pilings with a diameter of at least eight (8) inches and the first floor level ofthe sills and joists must meet the minimal 100 year flood
as required by FIRM Community Panel 370047-M I D.
7) All pilings shall have a tip penetration of at least five (5) feet below mean sea level, or sixteen (16) feet below average original grade, whichever is least; if located on a
primary dune, the tip Penetration must be at least five (5) feet below mean sea level.
8) No impermeable surfaces shall be allowed over any fimctional part ofthe septic tank system.
9) Dune disturbances will be allowed only to the extent necessary for development, and if the dune's protective value is not weakened or reduced. Disturbed areas will be
immediately stabilized.
10) This permit may be renewed for one year, Mr-e-4 ested before the cw&ydon dam

From the date of an appeal, any work conducted under this per-
mit must cease until the appeal is resolved. f

be susceptible to erosion and/or flooding. I acknowledge that the local permit officer has explained to me the

CAMA Permit Notice
Pursuant to NCGS 113A-119(b), Emerald Isle, a locality authorized to issue
permits in Areas of Environmental Concern, hereby gives NOTICE that on
December 10, 1998, John and Carolina Tweedy applied for a Minor Permit
application to erect a single family dwelling at 9709 Dolphin Ridge Road, Dolphin
Ridge S/D, Block 46, Lot 68 with 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, septic area, concrete
drive access to ocean with sitting area.
The application may be inspected at the address below. Public comments
received by December 21, 1998 will be considered. Later comments will be
