If your project I in the Ocean Hazard AEC: 1) The pennttee is required to contact Local Permit Officer shortly before he plans to begin construction to arrange a setback measurement which will be effective for sixty (60) days barring a major shoreline change. Construction must begin within sixty (60) days ofthe determination or the measurement is void and must be redone` 2) Any structure withm the Ocean Hazard AEC shall be relocated or dismantled when it becomes imminently threatened by changes in shoreline eenflgn hcm The structure(s) shall be relocated or dismantled within two years ofthe time when it becomes imminently threatened, and in any case upon its collapse or subsidence However, if natural shoreline recovery or beach Renounshment takes place within two years ofthe time the structure becomes immmaidy threatened so that the structure is no longer imminartlythreatened, then it need not be relocated or dismantled at that time. This condition shall not affect the peahrt holder's right to seek authorization of temporary protective measures allowed under the CoasW Resources Comaussion Rules. 3) In order to avoid unreasonable danger to life and property, all development shall be designed and placed so as to minimize damage due to fluctuations in ground elevatioi and wave action in a 100 year storm. Cantilevered decks and walkways shall meet this standard or shall be designed to break -away without structural damage to the main structure. Any building constructed within the ocean hazard area shall comply with the North Carolina Building Code includingthe Coastal and Flood Plain Construction Standards, Chapter 34, Volume I or Section 39, Volume I-B and the local flood damage prevention ordinance as required by the National Flood Insurance Program. If any provisions ofthe building code or a flood damage prevention ordinance is inconsistent with any ofthe AEC standards, the more restrictive provision shall control. 4) The structure must be set back feet fhvm the fast lime of stable; natural vegetation. 5) The structure must be located entirely off the &natal dune, and, if a primary dune is present, behind the crest ofthe primary dune. 6) The structure must be elevated onpilings with a diameter of at least eight (8) inches and the Brat floor level ofthe sills and joists must meet the minimal 100 year flood as required by FIRM Community Panel 370047-M D. 7) All pilings shall have a tip penetration of at least five (5) feet below mean sea level, or sixteen (16) feet below average original Bade, whichever is 1 primary dune, the tip penetration must be at least five (5) feet below mean sea level east; if located on a 8) No impermeable surfaces shall be allowed over any functional part ofthe septic tank system. 9) Dune disturbances will be allowed only to the extent necessary for development, and ifthe dune's protective value is not weakened or reduced. This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. Any maintenance work or project modifications not covered under this permit requires further written permit approval.
