Ile have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your request to
construct a boat lift at your property. Under the Coastal Area Management
Act for the construction of a boat lift, you are exempt from needing a Minor
Development Permit, as long as it meets the conditions specified below:
Letters have been received from adjoining property owners to
advise of notification of project;
All pilings shall be a minimum of six by six (6x6) inches square
and shall have an eight -foot (81) minimum tip penetration;
The structure shall not exceed sixteen (16) feet from the mean
high water to the piling. Handrails may be added.
Prior to construction, piling depths must be certified. Certi-
fication requires an engineer approval of the pilings or having
the building inspector on site at the time of the piling placement.
The total boatlift area is not to exceed 500 square feet.
Construction must conform to all applicable state and loca cons-
truction requirements as illustrated on Bogue Sound pier/boat lift
sepcifications.
Any variation from the above will require a permit. Also, this, certification
of exemption from requiring a CAMA permit is.valid for ninety (90) days from
the date of issuance. Following expiration, a re-examination of the project
and project site may be necessary to renew this certification.
