RE: STOP WORK ORDER AND NOTICE OF FAILURE
TO APPLY FOR CAMA PERMIT
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinandsen:
IN
MAR 11 1999
This letter confirms that I was at Lot I I Osprey Point Subdivision off of SR 1324 in Pamlico County,
N.C. on March 9, 1999 to investigate the possibility of development activity in an Area of Environmental
Concern (AEC) without proper authorization. My visit verified that trees had been cut down on the left
side of the garage next to the edge of the water and vegetation had been pushed into the water. No Minor
Development Permit has been issued foi- this development activity.
No person may undertake activity constituting minor development within a designated AEC without first
obtaining a Minor Development Permit from the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural
Resources of a Local Government with an approved Coastal Area Management Implementation and
Enforcement Program. This requirement is imposed by North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS) 1I3A-
118.
You are hereby requested to STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY and contact this office by March 16,
1999 to file the necessary application. NO WORK MAY PROCEED UNTIL THE PERMIT IS
ISSUED. If you comply voluntarily, no further action will be necessary beyond restoration of any
damaged natural resources protected by the Act, whatever project modifications are needed to bring your
development into compliance with the Act and the issuance of a permit.
Failure to file an application or continuation of work after receipt of this Notice may constitute a
violation of the Act and you may face civil and/or criminal penalties as a result. Each day the
development continues, or is repeated after receipt of this Notice, may constitute a separate violation and
could result in further penalties or imprisonment for not more than sixty (60) days or both (NCGS 113A-
126).
If you have any questions about this matter, please contact me. YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IS
REQUESTED.
Sincerely,
Skip Le ,
CAMA Local Permit Officer
