We have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessity of filing an application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. The proposed project, as submitted, is in accordance with the enclosed Criteria for Exemption and will not not require a minor development permit. However, if your plans should change you will need to contact this office before proceeding. The proposed project and location is described as follows: A 5' x 161 pier extension to an existing (5' x 741) pier and changing placement of two mooring piles at Lot 03 of the Buccaneer Bay Subdivision on Smith Creek in the Pamlico County community of Oriental, N. C. This certification of Exemption from requiring a C.A.M.A. Minor Permit is valid for ninety days from the date of issuance - applies ONLY to exemptions for piers, docks, and decks pursuant to 15A NCAC 7K .0203 and NOT for single family dwellings. Following expiration, a re-examination of the project and project site may be necessary to renew this certification. Prior to beginning the project a building permit is required..
