Dear Mr. Haynes:
Angus
:tions Assistant
We have reviewed the information submitted, to this office for a Dunes
and Vegetation Permit or a Building Permit and find that the activity you
propose is exempt from needing a Minor Development Permit under the Coastal
Area Management Act as long as it meets the conditions as specified below.
If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet these
conditions, please.contact me before proceeding.
A single-family residence must be located more than 40 feet landward of
the mean high-water mark, or normal water level within the Estuarine
Shoreline Area of Environmental Concern. No land disturbing activity may
occur within that 40-foot buffer zone other than construction of a 6-foot
wide access to the water. If the lot in question.is in an eroding area, the
house must be built the maximum feasible distance back on the lot, but not
less than 40 feet.
Sincerely,
Carol A. Angus

Re: 3508 Emerald Drive, Block 16, Lot 63
Dear Mr. Haynes:
We have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your request to construct a
pier, with a tee, and find you are exempt from needing a Minor Development Permit as long as
it meets the specifications below:
Your letters have been received and are on file in this office to the adjoining
property owners to advise of the project;
All pilings shall be a minimum of 611x6" square and shall have an 8' minimum tip
penetration.
Prior to construction, piling depths must be certified, either by an engineer or having
the building inspector on site at the time of piling placement;
Construction must conform to all applicable state and local construction requirements
as illustrated in Bogue Sound Pier/Boat lift specifications (Section 6-84).
A pier is not to exceed 200' in length, or 4' of water at low tide, not to exceed 200
square feet for any tee(s); nor shall the pier exceed 6' in width.
Any variation of the above will require a CAMA permit; also, this certification of exemption
from requiring a CAMA permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Following
expiration, a re-examination of the project and project site may be necessary to renew this
certification.
Sincerely,
Carol Angus,
Local CAMA Permit Officer
