Dear Mr. Eldridge:
We have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your request to construct a
pier, with a tee, and find you are exempt from needing a Miiior Development Permit as long as
it meets the specifications below:

All pilings shall be a minimum of 6"x6" square and shall have 'an 8minimum tip
penetration.
Prior to construction,_ piling depths must be certified, either by an engineer or having
the building inspector on site at the tiara of piling placement;
Construction must conform to all applicable state and local construction requirements
as illustrated in Bogue Sound Pier/Boat lift specifications (Section 6-84).
A pier is not to exceed 200' in length, or 4' of water at low tide, not to exceed 200
square feet for any tee(s); nor shall the pier exceed 6' in width.
Any variation of the above will require a CAMA permit; also, this certification of exemption
from requiring'a CAMA permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Following
expiration, a re-examination of the project and project site may be necessary to renew this
certification.
