Gaskill G Post Office Box 62 Ocracoke, North Carolina '27960 Dear Mr. Gaskill: On March 28, 1984, you met with Messrs. Terry Moore and George Wood, both with the N. C. Office of Coastal Management, and Mr. Hugh Heine of my staff regarding your plans to construct a pier on Oyster Creek off Pamlico Sound in Ocracoke, Hyde County, North Carolina.. As indicated during this meeting, if you decide to construct a net house within the flagged .high ground area, no Federal permits will be required. On June 24, 1982, we issued general permit No. SAWC078-N-019-0056 (enclosed)_that authorizes -the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation of piers, docks, boathouses, mooring pilings, and wooden jetties in North Carolina. Your proposed work is authorized if you can comply with all permit conditions. Please read the enclosed permit to prevent an �, unintentional violation of Federal law. A Department of the Army general permit does not.relieve you of the responsibility,to obtain any required State or local approval.
