Dear Mr. Winter:
We have received the information submitted to this office in your
inquiry concerning the necessity of filing an application for a
minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act.
The activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor
development permit as long as it meets the conditions specified
below. If your plan should change and your project will no
longer meet those conditions, please contact me before
proceeding.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY AND CONDITIONS: To construct a pier at
Lot No# 11, Kinsbridge Subdivision Section 2, Hubert,- NC,
Swansboro Township, Onslow County, North Carolina and shall be
exempt from a CAMA permit if the following conditions are met:
A pfivate' noncommercial pier may be constructed if±it does not
exceed 200.feet in total length off -shore; is not within 150 feet
of a federally maintained channel; does not exceed 6 feet in
width; does not include an enclosed structure, and does not
interfere with established navigation rights. It may be built
through wetland vegetation only if elevated and may have a T-head
or platform not exceeding 500 square feet in area at its
waterward end and shall in no.case extend more than one-third of
the width of the water body and shall not interfere with
shellfish franchises or leases.
This certification of exemption from requiring a CAMA permit is
valid for ninety (90) days from the date of issuance. Following
expiration. a re-examination'of'.the project site may be necessary
to renew this certification.

Dear Neighbor:
My name is David Winter. I own Lot *11 next to yours. I am
trying to obtain all the necessary permits to build a home And a
small dock on my property.
Doing so, I need to•.obtain a Cama Permit. This permit allows you
to build a home, dock, or any structure past an imaginary line
approximately 75 feet from the water. To obtain this permit I
must have a written statement from the lot owners on both sides
of me.
As you .can see from the sketch only a small corner of my porch
will cross this line and I only want a small dock. Neither of
these will block the wonderful view of the water that we have.
I please ask for your comments and approval in writing as soon as
possible.
