C. 27893 RE: STOP WORK ORDER AND NOTICE OF FAILURE TO APPLY FOR CAMA PERMIT CONSTRUCTION WITHOUT PROPER BUILDING PERMIT-N.C.GS#153A-357 Dear Mr. Baker: This letter confirms that I was at your property in Vandemere, North Carolina (Tax Parcel #J032-28) off Jones Road on Smith Creek in Pamlico County to investigate the possibility of development activity in an Area of Environmental Concern (AEC) without proper authorization. My visit verified that a building addition is being constructed to your existing dwelling. No Minor Development Permit has been issued for this development activity. No person may undertake activity constituting minor development within a designated AEC without first obtaining a Minor Development Permit from the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources or a Local Government with an approved Coastal Area Management Implementation and Enforcement Program. This requirement is imposed by North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS) 113A-118. You are hereby requested to STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY and contact this office by March 24, 1995 to file the necessary application NO WORK MAY PROCEED UNTIL THE PERMIT IS ISSUED. If you comply voluntarily, no further action will be necessary beyond restoration of any damaged natural resources protected by the Act, whatever project modifications are needed to bring your development into compliance with the Act and the issuance of a permit. Failure to file an application or continuation of work after receipt of this Notice may constitute a violation of the Act and you may face civil and/or criminal penalties as a result. Each day the development continues, or is repeated after receipt of this Notice, may constitute a separate violation and could result in further penalties or imprisonment for not more than sixty (60) days or both NCGS 113A-126).
