I have just finished speaking with Mr. Jack Neighbors of Kitty
Dunes Realty who asked that I send you the necessary forms to apply
for a CAMA permit to build an oceanfront residence on your property
in Kitty Hawk. Enclosed you will find all the necessary forms.
These forms should be completed and sent with a $16.00 check
(made out to the State of North Carolina, Department of Natural
Resources and Community Development) to Mr. David Gossett, CAMA
Field Consultant, Washington Regional Office, 1502 North Market
Street, Washington, 14C 27889. Mr. Gossett currently reviews these
permits in the Kitty Hawk area and he will be'able to answer any
questions you niay have about completing the forms. His phone in
Washington is [phone]. I should tell you that he does work
in the field a considerable amount of the time, so if you have difficulty
reaching him, I can also answer any questions you might have.
Once the completed forms are received, it will be necessary for
an on -site visit to be made to confirm any construction proposed in
the application. It may be easier for you to ask that Mr. Neighbors
be present on your behalf, and as he indicated to me today, I believe
that is a possibility.
The only thing that may not be clear on the application forms is
the need to attach a separate sketch plan of your proposed development.
The general guidelines for preparing a sketch plan are on the back of
page 1 of the application. It is not necessary to have a scale drawing
or a registered survey although it is much easier for us if such infor-
mation is available.
If you do have questions and are unable to reach Mr. Gossett, please
call me at the phone on our letterhead.. Since both of us travel a great
deal, it may be best to call person -to -person or just leave a message for
us to return your call. Either of us will be glad to help you prepare
your application.
