HUNTJR. APR GOVERNOR Mrs. Juliann Farrow Bltven v T vtr P. O. Box 181 coAsTaL Manteo. 'north Carolina 27954 WAYNE MCDEvITr SECRETARY ,. Dear Mrs. Bliven: This letter is in reference to vour January 26, 2000 correspondence objecting as an adjacent riparian property owner to Mr. Ronald A. Pettit. Jr.'s request to conduct DONNAD. MOFFITT ., .- maintenance excavation in a manmade canal and to construct a bulkhead on his property located on the west side of NC 12 in Salvo. Dare County. and adjacent to the Pamlico Sound. Mr. Frank Jennings, of our office, was recently onsite and reviewed Mr. Pettit's proposal and noted that the area of proposed canal maintenance excavation is vtithin the confines of fir. Pettit's property line. Most of the north shore of the canal appears to be located either very close to or on the property line you share with Mr. Pettit. The erosion that you mention in b your correspondence appears to occur within Mr. Pettit's propem lines. '- Therefore the Division of Coastal Management has given vour objections careful consideration and has determined that the project is consistent with the appropriate rules and regulations and that all pre -requisite requirements have been met; consequentiv. the Division issued a General Permit (cope attached) on April 1:. 2000 to fir. Ronald A. Pettit. Jr. :-or -£. bulkhead construction and maintenance excavation. If you wish to appeal this decision, you may file a request with the Director of the Division of Coastal Management. Department of Environment and Natural Resources within zx- -ter•.- - 20 days of the permit decision.
