The applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian landowner(s) . We received the request for adjacent owner's approval and after initial approval, we withdrew our approval. We first developed our property in 1979 and over the years, we have experienced almost no erosion. After an onsite visit, we believe the result of this seawall would be to create erosion on our property, eventually requiring that we build a seawall ourselves. We do not wish to disturb the natural washing of the shoreline by building a seawall if it is not needed and we believe the proposed seawall would force us to do so. After an onsite visit, we believe the result of the seawall would be increased erosion on our property, eventually requiring that we build a seawall on our property. Over the years, we have experienced very little erosion and do not wish to disturb the delicate balance of the shoreline. The DCM reviewed the application along with the pertinent rules of the Coastal Resources Commission in conjunction with your objections and determined that the project as proposed is consistent with the Commission's rules. Therefore, the DCM issued CAMA General Permit #52636-C to Mr. Julian Gilgo, on October 13, 2008, authorizing the bulkhead as proposed. If you wish to appeal this permit decision, you must file a Third Party Hearing Request with the Director of the Division of Coastal Management, Mr. James Gregson, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, within 20 days of the permit decision. A copy must also be sent to the Attorney General's Office, Environmental Division. If you wish to appeal, please contact me and I can forward you the pertinent forms.
