NORTH CAROLINA 28594 PHONE (252) 354-5515 FACSIMILE (252) 354-5064 This office represents Ms. Lisa Sotebeer who resides at 106 Cottonwood Drive, Pine Knoll Shores which is the property located to the East of the Huffman property. Ms. Sotebeer objects to the issuance of a permit for the proposed dock on the following grounds: I. The lot in question is 36 feet wide on Bogue Sound. Without the waiver of the parry \A on the West that would leave only 6 feet for the placement of the proposed 5 foot dock. Should a boat be docked on the east side of the dock it will have to be within the 15 foot setback area. Ms Sotebeer and her guests use this area for swimming and are concerned that the close quarters will make it dangerous. 0 2. The proposed dock does not appear to lineup with the channel for the Intercostal Waterway in Bogue Sound. Based upon the placement of the other docks which have an orientation more in an Easterly direction as they extend north. Along with requiring special care by those who build and develop, the General Assembly directed the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) to imple- ment clear regulations that minimize the burden on the applicant. This application for a minor development permit under CAMA is part of the Commission's effort to meet the spirit and intent of the General Assembly. It has been designed to be straightforward and require no more time or effort necessary from the applicant. Please go over this folder with the Local Permit Officer (LPO) for the locality in which you plan to build to be certain that you understand whatinformation he or she needs. Under CAMA regulations, the minor permit is to be issued within 25 days once a complete application is in hand. Often less time is needed if the project is simple. The process generally takes about 18 days. You can speed the approval process by making certain that your application is complete and signed, that your drawing meets the specifications given inside and that your application fee is attached. Other permits are sometimes required for development in the coastal area. While these are not CAMA-related, we urge you to check with the Local Permit Officer to determine which of these you may need. A listing is included on page 2 of this folder.
