Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Attached is General Permit #C-40722 to build a 4' x 180' pier to an existing 10' x 10' gazebo
and to add a new 10' x 32' "L" shaped platform in Carteret County adjacent to Straits water body
within Sleepy Point S/D at SR 1345 Pipers Lane Lot 19, Gloucester, NC.
In order to validate this permit, please sign all three (3) copies as indicated. Retain the white
copy for your files and return the signed yellow and pink copies to us in the enclosed, self-
addressed envelope. If the signed permit copies are not returned to this office before the initiation
of development, you will be working without authorization and will be subject to a Notice of
Violation and subsequent civil penalties.

Enclosed is an application for a 200' pier with one boat anchorage. This pier is identical
to the pier that existed before Hurricane Isabel in September of 2003.
On March 30, 2004, I submitted an application for a 330' pier to enable me to reach
water deeper than 4" at low tide. The application for the 330' pier was turned down in
September or October, 2004. Since it took six months to turn down my application to get
to deep water, I was unable to submit an application for replacing the identical pier which
was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel. This application restores the pier as it was before
Hurricane Isabel. I am enclosing pictures showing how it was before the hurricane.
I realize that the 12 months has expired for the automatic renewal of the identical pier
permit, but since we cannot submit two applications at once this is the only alternative I
have. If you have any questions, please call.
