Dear Mr. Hoffman:
Attached is General Permit 944234C- to construct a 6' x 90' dock, 4' x 54' finger pier, 6' x 6'
platform and a 13' x 13' boat lift at 1007 Front St., Beaufort, NC.
In order to validate this permit, please sign the permit as indicated. Retain the white copy for
your files and return the signed yellow and pink copies to us in the enclosed, self-addressed
envelope. If the signed permit copies are not returned to this office before the initiation of
development, you will be working without authorization and will be subject to a Notice of
Violation and subsequent civil penalties.

Dear Ryan,
Per your email I wrote up the proposed revised boat lift dimensions for permit
#43508/44234 at 1007 Front Street Beaufort for Louis Hoffman.
The attached drawing shows the proposed dock with a slight change in the boat
lift to the East. There is a signed waiver to the West from the Merrick family
allowing Mr. Hoffman to build up to the property line.
The wet slip on the West side accounts for the 21' as shown on the original
permit. That leaves Hoffman 42' till he hits the 15' setback on his East side which
is not waivered.
The last approved layout was for a 4 pole 13' x13' lift. This inadequate to lift his
30' boat. Hence we need a 15' x16' configuration with 6 poles.
This still leaves Hoffman with a 16' setback on the Eastside.
My other concern was that the 21' wet slip was not clearly listed or drawn on the
two permits. Hoffman's drawing has it on there from the original application
submission and the neighbor's approvals.
I understand that this permit has been a constant revision but I want to make
sure it is correct on paper and properly approved by your office. Since we are in
April I can submit another check to renew permit if you like. Thanks again!
