This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing
and attached general and specific conditions. Any violation of these terms
may subject the permittee to a fine, imprisonment or civil action; and
may cause the permit to become null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit of-
ficer when the project is inspected for compliance. The applicant certi-
fies by signing this permit that 1) this project is consistent with the local
land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement has
been obtained from adjacent riparian landowners certifying that the
have no objections to the proposed work.
In issuing this permit the State of North Carolina certifies that this projec
is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Attached is General Permit #C-28962 for a 130' x 6' pier extension with a 10' x 15' "L" in
Carteret County adjacent to Bogue Sound at 8302 Sound Drive in Emerald Isle.
In order to validate this permit, please sign all three (3) copies as indicated. Retain the white
copy for your files and return the signed yellow and pink copies to us in the enclosed, self-
addressed envelope.

Dear Ms. Barrette:
Per our telephone conversation, I am submitting (attached) a dimensioned drawing showing my
requested pier extension. Also attached is a table showing water depth from the shore grass line
up to 320 feet. NOTE that the under water shelf extends past 230 feet from the grass line. To
gain one foot (12 inches) of additional water depth, the extension needs to be 170 feet long.
The water depth was taken at higher tides. At extreme low tides, the water at the end of my
existing pier is less than one foot.
Please note that the requested extension would still not extend into the open sound as far as
existing piers on both sides of this cove area.

I am a homeowner in Emerald Isle at 8302 Sound Drive. At this location is an existing
pier into Bogue Sound.
As shown on the attached sketch my pier is in a cove area of the shoreline between
several longer piers that extend toward the deeper water channel. There exists a feature
of the bottom that is beyond my existing pier that results in water at the end of my i
that results in water at the end of my pier being less than one foot deep at e e low
tides.

I request permission to extend my existing pier by approximately 15 feet to access
enough water to utilize my boat during normal tides. Note that this new length would
still not extend into the open sound as far as existing piers on each side of this cove. 1 LV \ C Q
