Enclosed you will find a form that is used to notify abutters that your neighbor is
going to have some shoreline construction done. It is required by CAMA to send you a
notice! CAMA stands for Coastal Area Management Authority a division of the Dept. of
Environment and Natural Resources who has jurisdiction over any shoreline construction
within 75 feet from the mean high water mark and requires a permit be obtained for that
construction prior to starting the work. You have the right to sign the form and return it
indicating that you have been notified, you can ignore it, or you can object to the
construction.
Your neighbor is not building immediately (1 to 2 years) but they want to protect
the shoreline that has some erosion occurring to it. I had a meeting on site yesterday to
review what CAMA would allow him to do to stop the erosion. CAMA recommended
that lot 38 bulkhead their shoreline as shown on the attached map, for a distance of 100
feet.
Seth and Linda Nickerson are planning to go ahead with the bulk heading
therefore they have to notify you of the pending construction. The enclosed form is part
of the process of obtaining their permit to construct. Please review this information and
let me know if you intend on sending the form back.
This is the same procedure you will have to follow when you want to build your
dock, also the Nickerson's will have to notify you again when they want to build their
dock!
