The applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian landowner(s) . The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program. Hammocks Beach State Park would like to pursue the following two projects located at our Maintenance Area Boat Basin on the mainland side of the park: 1 A Dredgieg Proiect Under Existing Boat Lift: Hammocks Beach State Park would like to dredge an area located under the existing maintenance area boatlift. At the present time we are unable to properly utilize the lift at low tide. The area to be dredged would be 25 feet long x 10 feet wide x 3 feet deep. At mean low water the current sounding depth is only I foot deep, and we would like to have a finished sounding depth of 4 foot deep at mean low tide. Due to the limited size of the project, we have experienced a difficult time in trying to find a contractor available to complete this work. However, Kings Dredging (Owner Mice King) is currently in the area for the next week and would be able to complete the project if we receive permission from your agency to proceed. The method of dredging, which we are proposing, would be in the form of a bucket to barge dredge. The spoil would them be carried away by the contractor. 2 Installation Of Pilings For Two Additional Boatlifks: The second project, which would be conducted in the next six months, would be to install seven pilings off of the L - shaped ferry dock located at the maintenance area. These pilings are to support two boatlifts will be utilized to hold 24'shallow draft ferryboats or patrol boats. The to be pilings to be installed would be 40 foot long x 12 inches in diameter, and would be jetted in at a depth of 25 feet, with 15 feet exposed at mean low water, Thanks you for your consideration in this matter and if you need any additional information please contact me at (910) 326 — 4981.
