SECRETARY CERTIFIED MAIL The NC Department of Transportation is proposing to stabilize 112' of shoulder along the east side of NC 94 in Hyde County. The shoulder of the road is eroding away and needs to be stabilized to prevent further erosion and unsafe driving conditions. The project is located 0.4 miles north of SR 1307 (Seth Rd), adjacent to the Fairfield Canal pump house. The Division of Coastal Management (DCM) considers this to be in an "Area of Environmental Concern" under their regulations. Therefore, it is provided protection under state law. For this reason the NCDOT will apply for a permit from the DCM to perform the described work. Part of the permit process is notifying the adjacent landowners of the proposed work. A map depicting the project area, along with a design plat, and the permit application is included with this letter.
