GOVERNOR SECRETARY April 11, 2011 Stephen Lane Division of Coastal Management 400 Commerce Avenue Morehead City, NC 28557 Dear Mr. Lane, The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a GP .1 100 for 500 feet of road shoulder stabilization on SR 1 135 (Baum Town Road), which parallels a canal draining to Baum Creek. In conjunction with this NCDOT is also requesting a GP .2400 for 414 ft. of rip -rap revetment to be placed contiguously with the 500 ft. of rip -rap bank stabilization. The rip -rap revetment will align waterward of the fringe coastal wetlands along the road shoulder. The total combined length of rip -rap stabilization to be placed along SR 1 135 is 914 feet. Within the bank stabilization project, an existing 24in. X 40ft. long culvert replacement is proposed. This culvert will be replaced with a 24in. X 5011. long corrugated aluminum culvert. A GP .2300 is being requested to cover this activity. The proposed work is detailed in the attached permit drawings. The MP forms, vicinity map, photographs and permit drawings are included with this letter.
