This will be my Vt Dune Push on this property since after the Hurricane Floyd last fall. Please find enclosed the following; ■ Signed letters (the originals) from each of my two neighbors whom own the two adjacent oceanfront properties (on both sides of my property). ■ Detailed drawing showing all the necessary property and dune dimensions and push details. ■ The name of the company who will be doing the Dune Pushing will be L.B. Page. They can be reached at (ph) 252-393-7766. Upon my phone conversation with your office this week, I understand there is no charge for this I" permit since this will be my I" dune push and therefore I" permit since Hurricane Floyd. I would greatly appreciate anything you can do to expedite this permit since as you are aware the deadline is approaching. I quite simply did not have the funds to push any earlier. As I am sure you are familiar, Dune Pushing is regulated by CAMA and the contractors will be pushing the dunes within these guidelines. Although a neighbor's denial can not inevitably prevent an owner from dune pushing by law, it is a requirement that I send you proper notification. Please keep in mind that the cutoff deadline to have this work completed is April 30, 2000. Therefore I would greatly appreciate your cooperation and immediate response of verification that you received this letter of notification. I would be very thankful if you would respond to this by signing below and returning this letter in the enclosed pre -stamped envelope as soon as is possible in order that I may get my permit to the contractor in a timely manner. It is my intention to rebuild the primary dune back up as close as is possible to the way they were prior to the last Hurricane damage. Of course the benefit of doing this is in order to offer storm erosion -protection to my property and prevent loss of the older secondary dune structure which would be catastrophic to our property values. This can only benefit your property this Hurricane season as well. I have learned from both mine and other people's experiences that the houses that have excercised this option in the past have faired much less significant primary dune loss in past storms. I can tell you firsthand that I have experienced significantly more dune loss on a side where the neighbor did not dune push that year and yet from the same storm the side that my neighbor did push we both had much less loss of dune. Witnessing this has made me a strong advocate of pushing after these Hurricanes. I would hope that you would make every effort to push dunes on your property for protection of your property as well as mine and your other neighbors in an effort to protect our secondary last frontal dune. If this last dune starts getting hit by the Hurricanes, we are of course at risk of losing our properties and more importantly our rights to rebuild which then makes our properties worthless. Please understand the serious consequences of not dune pushing at this stage in our dune loss and I urge you, if you haven't already made plans to do so, to please consider that your decision not to do so will adversely affect mine and your adjacent neighbors beach properties and values. Thank you very much for your consideration on this extremely important issue! Sincerely, Don H.
