Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certifythatthis project is consistentwith the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

I have a house at 207 Rudolph Drive in Beaufort, and my neighbor of 205 Rudolph
Drive, Betty Bland, has requested me to sign off on a dock as illustrated in attached
document. I had a conversation Sunday night with Bobby Bland regarding this proposal
and my objections to the length, and then I received a certified letter on Tuesday stating I
must officially object to your offices within 10 days.
I have no problem with the Blands building a dock with a boatlift. I do have a problem
with the proposed length of 350 feet. My dock is 204 feet, and extends just past the
marsh, as do all the other docks in our area. I shared with Mr. Bland that I have no
problem with him extending a dock 15 or 20 feet more to help accommodate a lift, yet I
see no advantage of extending a dock any more than that in our area due to the depth of
the water. I am very familiar with the water in our area, and the depth is essentially the
same relative to tides from 20 feet past my dock all the way out almost 50 yards. I feel a
dock extending out that far would impede small watercraft sports such as sunfish sailing,
windsurfing, and kayaking which my family and others in the neighborhood have
enjoyed. I have interest in installing a boatlift for a flat bottom boat myself, yet I feel I
can accomplish the majority of my needs with an extension of 20 feet or less from my
existing dock. I would appreciate your help in asking the Blands to reconsider their
proposal. I feel they can accomplish their goals with a much shorter dock.
