Dear Sir:
We would like to register our objection to the unnecessary installation of no wake signs
in Spooners Creek. Spooners Creek is a beautiful, quiet, family neighborhood. We
cringe at the thought of having that beauty littered with orange and white no wake signs.
We question the need for these signs and find it puzzling that anyone would want to
spend taxpayer's dollars on such an unnecessary expense. We do not have a wake
problem. Boaters who live or visit Spooner's Creek are very considerate. There is a
wake sign as you enter Spooner's Creek and with our Marina positioned at the mouth of
the creek, boaters slow down, continue in slow mode past the marina and continue at an
appropriate speed throughout the creek.
Once these signs are installed, the City of Morehead must maintain them and the Coast
Guard and Wildlife Officials will be required to spend time in Spooners Creek to enforce
the no wake requirement — MORE UNNECESSARY COST TO THE TAXPAYER.
We ask that you reconsider this project and opt not to continue. You can be sure
the majority of the on -the -water residents at Spooners Creek will contact you if a
problem arises in the future.
