Larue Haddock 6021 NC 43 South Greenville, NC 27858 Ms. Haddock: :TMENT OF ESOURCES ["AGEMENT This letter is in reference to our 5 June 2000 telephone conversation regarding your property at Portside, on a manmade canal connected to the Pamlico River near the City of Washington in Beaufort County, North Carolina. The purpose of your telephone call was to discuss your desire to cover an existing boatlift in a manmade canal. Based on information provided by you and a review of our permit records for your property, we have determined that you do not have adequate shoreline length to be eligible for a CAMA permit for a boathouse. As we discussed, NC Administrative Code 07H.0208(b)(6)(G), and 07H.1205(I), state that boathouses shall not be -allowed on lots with less than 75 linear feet of shoreline. Because your property has 66 linear feet of shoreline, the proposed work is inconsistent with the current rules adopted by the Coastal Resources Commission. Therefore, no CAMA General Permit or CAMA Major permit is available to authorize this project. If you do not agree with the permit decision you may petition for a variance from the Coastal Resources Commission by submitting a completed Variance Request Form directly to the Director of the Division of Coastal Management. I have included a copy of these forms as you requested. I appreciate your concern and effort to comply with the permit requirements of this Division and encourage you to continue to consult representatives of this Division for future questions regarding CAMA permits. If you have any questions about this or any other matter, please call me at (252) 946-6481, ext. 299.
