violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine,
imprisonment or civil action; and may cause the permit to be-
come null and void.

permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance.

1. I appreciate your quick response yesterday. I think the enclosures contain some of the missing
information you need.
2. Enclosure (1) contained lot 7 soundings and the proposed excavations. It shows that the
adjacent waters outside the excavation area are minus five feet — this is south of my pilings. The
entire marina basin channel is about five feet.
3. Enclosure (2) contained the property survey and proposed dock/bulkhead repairs. I have
annotated the survey to show the location of the marsh grass. There is no marsh grass in front of
any of my property. However, marsh grass does come up to my property on the east side. The
marsh grass extends out no further than my southern most bulkhead.
4. As indicated in enclosure (2) survey and repair proposal, the bulkhead repair will be
approximately 27 — 30 feet max. As we discussed on March 02 while on site, the contractor may
have to extend the bulkhead north a couple of feet at the south east cornor. I have annotated
proposal.
5. I have asked Mr. Brooks to call you about the spoils area. He will probably utilize the same
area for his current project.

Dear Ms. Barrett,
l . I appreciate your professionalism at our meeting yesterday afternoon. Your understanding and expl nation of the
need to protect our natural resources and public trust areas is correct and convincing. Good job. My N C tax dollars are
being well spent. I hope you conclude that my proposal does not add any additional threat to the envim nment and
provides no additional impediment to public use.
2. My complete dock would exist today if immediately following the hurricane, I had applied for the appropriate permits
and subsequently initiated -action to repair it to its original dimensions. I would not have waited if I ha(' known there
were any time limitations to get a pit to rebuild
3. I hope that I can be "grand fathered" for the following reasons:
a. I am asking only to restore the dock to its original dimensions.
b. My rem is in accordance, with land use plans - Carteret County Planning Department reviewed m i request
and has agreed to issue a building permit if you concur.
c. There is no negative environmental or public impact.
d. My family has had a dock the same size at this same location for over forty years.
e. The property is zoned Marina B2.
f. My dock and existing pilings do not impede navigation- They extend out no more than one third of t ire charnel.
g. My existing pilings do not extent out any further from the shore line than adjacent pilings in the marl ,a.
4. lam providing as enclosure (1) my letter to the Carteret County Planning Office which includes as a i attachment the
contractor's pre -storm value and estimate for repair. Please note that the estimate is worse case and alsc includes $925
In- material for new pilings. The contractor's estimate of the cost to replace the dock could be further_re:tuced if the
bulkhead were constructed first. These bulkhead pilings would double as the in -board dock pilings.
5. I had previously provided the County Office with two other estimates concerning structural value. I l: ave included as
enclosure (3) the letter from T.D. Eure. I can't find my copy from Monroe Johnson., but it is on file vxif i the County.
6. Enclosures (4) provides the soundings. Enclosure (5) provides the proposed maximum excavation. I he small 12 X
24 foot excavation at 3 foot on the east side is optional.
7. I will provide you the adjacent riparian property owner's waiver forms as soon as they are returned.

1. 1 respectfully submit applications for CAMA permits to:
a) Repair / Rebuild my hurricane damaged dock
b) Replace my deteriorated bulkhead
c) Perform minor re -dredging
2. My property is Lot 7, Thoroughfare Subdivision, Morehead Beaufort Causeway. It is just east of the Ihurante
residence located at 242 Old Causeway Road and is approximately 1/10 mile east of Lane's Marina. Enc' osure (1)
is an old survey which shows my property (Lot 7) and the Durant property, (6)_ Linda Spader is my sister and sold
Lot 6 to the Durantes.
3 . The dock was damaged less than fifty percent during a hurricane and I am repairing and restoring it to its
original dimensions and condition. The bulkhead has deteriorated and needs replacing to prevent erosion I
understand bulkhead repairs must not exceed two feet from the existing bulkhead The area in front of m ✓ property
has gradually filled in and needs re -dredging.
4. Enclosure (2) is a sketch of the proposed dock and bulkhead repairs. Ms. Katrina Marshall is processing the
building permit for the dock and bulkhead_ Enclosure (3) refers. I will provide you a sketch showing the =Tent
and proposed excavation when we meet to discuss the dredging. I understand a separate permit for the d -edging is
required.
5. Enclosures (4) and (5) are the Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Notifications for the dock and bulkh ad
repairs. For confirmations, Mr. Durant can be phoned at 336-545-5548 in Greensboro and Mr. Weaver can be
phoned at 919- 848-3819 in Raleigh.
