Re: General Permit No. 021916A, 119 Benbury Dr., Chowan County
Dear Mr. Bassett :

This letter is in reference to your CAMA General Permit which was issued on June 28, 1999.
This permit authorized the construction of a platform and boat house along the shoreline of
your property located at 119 Benbury Drive, Mulberry Hill, Chowan County within the waters of
the Albemarle Sound.
On October 6, 1999 a site visit was conducted at this site to determine and confirm that your
project was completed in accordance with the Specific Conditions concerning a pier platform and
boat house structure as referenced in Subchapter 7H .1200 of the North Carolina Administrative
Code and the Coastal Area Management Act. During this inspection, it became apparent that
only the dock/pier platform had been completed and the boathouse structure had not been
constructed. As a courtesy, I wish to remind you that CAMA Permit 021916A expired on
September 26, 1999. Since the remaining work (construction of the proposed boathouse) falls
within the permit jurisdictional areas defined as Estuarine Waters and/or Public Trust Area, as
described in Subchapter 7H .0206 and .0207 respectively, of the North Carolina Administrative
Code, a permit will be required from this Division prior to the completion of this project as
originally approved in CAMA General Permit 021916A.
Than you for your time and cooperation in regard to this matter. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me at (252) 264-3901.
Sincerely,
1i,
Dennis W. Hawthorn
