This letter is to inform you that our Division has authorized the replacement and repair of the shoreline erosion control structure at the subject property owned by Mr. Kamille. This work has been authorized through a Hurricane Fran Storm Exemption. The applicant's contractor, Jeff Emanuelson and Dad, contacted my field staff in June of 1997 concerning the replacement and repair of the existing structure. The authorized structure and repair includes changes to the applicant's original proposal which reflect your concerns. Changes include reduction of the proposed rip rap rock slope and the placement of the bulkhead section which was blown out during last year's hurricane season. The authorized work shall include the replacement of the bulkhead wall as well as the placement of rip rap rock waterward of the existing bulkhead. The rip rap will have a structure slope of 3 to 1. Mr. Kamille is authorized to backf ll the existing bulkhead with both rock and sand. A copy of this authorization is enclosed. We appreciate your comments concerning this project. If my staff or myself can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (919) 264-3901. RL W/kh cc: Charles S.
