Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Re:Paul & Janet Ziegler/571 Becton Rd/Havelock, NC--Rip-Rap Repair & Stone Groin
Dear Mr. Chadwick:
As you will remember, we meet in early July at our property located at 571 Becton Road, to discuss the repair
of our rip -rap. Again, on July 24, I spoke to you about this work and also about the installation of a stone groin
in the center of our river front property line at the same time you repair the rip -rap. I am writing to inform you
that I have now received from both property owners on our left and on our right, signed paperwork as required
by CAMA/NC DENR, for the repair and installation of the stone groin. On the drawing, I indicated two
stone groins but at this time I only want one constructed in the center of the 170 foot frontage at the river.
As discussed you will repair the rip -rap and will place down before placing the new stone the filter cloth that
you used the first time when you did the work originally. You indicated when we met you might need to place
some dirt along the edge also before placing the black cloth and stone. Also, remember the septic line near the
guest house located on the property. You indicated that you would utilize some planking over the line to run
you heavy equipment over.
I have enclosed the original documents that Mr. Steve Lane, of Division of Coastal Management, who handles
things that come under CAMA, indicated that I needed to obtain from each property owner that border our
property, and to provide these originals to you. I have also included a check(#6342), in the amount of $100
made out to NC DENR for the permit to construct the stone groin(1 at this time). Steve indicated that you know
what needs to be done, providing him with this check, the documents enclosed, and scheduling of a meeting at
the lot with him.
I hope that all goes well and that you will be able to begin this work and possibly complete before we arrive
September 3. It would be good if you could do ours when you are performing work for the Tapely's(our
neighbor).
