FS AP 2 2 ik R Dear Sir; Thank you kindly for your reply and field visit to my lot in Smyrna on April 9, 1991. I appreciate both and feel the matter has gone too complicated and confused to pursue in its present proposal. The 'major' permit forms would take up my entire vacation just to begin to understand them and the construction costs and permit fees would be prohibitive likewise. I don't want a marina project, I don't want to destroy the environment and I don't want extravagance ...... I simply would like to be able to put a small boat into the creek from my own shoreline for my own personal (non-commercial) riparian use when I go there on vacation. The dock which measures 3'4" * an extra inch each side for the border or 3'6" overall width was a fairly simple permit to obtain being that it was elevated over and above the marsh grass, and it measured less than 6'0" allowable width over the marsh area. Briefly, using the above criteria as a guideline, I have modified the request and have enclosed two copies of the same for your review. I request you consider the modifications and advise me if this is permissable and satisfactory to CAMA? The key modifications are: (a) There will be no fill or dredging in the marsh or creek. (b) The skids will be elevated over and above the marsh grass, similar in construction as was the dock, which is approved. (c) There will be no disturbance of the marsh grass. (d) There will be no impervious surfaces associated with the skid structures. (e) The intrusion of the AEC zone would be reduced from about 894 square feet (7.5%) to about 72 square feet (1.2%) due to the modifications and the total AEC of all projects new and existing would be about 8.7% (instead of 15%) which is well within the allowable 30% use. (f) the total width of the dock and skids surface area would be kept within the CAMA limits of 6'0" overall width across a marsh area for riparian use and access to a creek. ( 2 ) The skids would be of pressure treated lumber, laminated in construction of staggered 2" x 6" bolted with galvanized fastenings, and would have 2" x 6" edges to serve as guides. The overall width of each skid would be 1'3". The uprights would likewise be pressure treated as would the cross braces. Briefly, it would represent a narrow and lower profiled sloping pier or dock whereby boars on wheels or rollers could be launched and retrieved from the creek at all but low water. There would be no alteration or disturbance of the marsh grass, no fill or dredging required. Again, I appreciate your review of this modified proposal and request CAMA permission to proceed. The neighbors have been notified and I have heard no objection to date. I believe sincerely my request in its present form is reasonable, practical and permissable. Please advise me of changes I should make, points to consider, or other reasons for CAMA requirements which need to be met if I have overlooked some detail. I would like to use my boat this summer and plan to be able to do the work around the July 4th holiday. I do not want to wait until the last minute, or be kept on hold until the summer begins if possible, and I would like your assistance with the project.
