We are in receipt of your July 30`' letter concerning the subject project proposed by Mr. Cason
and Mr. Brett. This letter is to inform you that the proposed work by the subject co -applicants is
consistent with the Rules concerning bulkhead and boat ramp construction as stipulated in the
Coastal Area Management Act, Section 7H. I have attached a copy of these rules for your
record.
In this regard, I have issued a CAMA General Permit (also attached) for this proposed
construction. We understand your concern in regard to possible shoreline erosion due to
increased boat traffic on this canal; however, our Rules do not address this problem. Our Rules
do allow property owners to apply for CAMA Permits to stabilize their shorelines. I believe that
under the current situation, once you have gone through the adjacent property owner notification
requirement (and other requirements as stipulated in 7H.1100), that I would probably issue you
or any property owners in this near vicinity a Permit to stabilize their shorelines along this canal
to prevent additional erosion. This would also be the case for applicants interested in
constructing boat ramps. Our Rules do not restrict boat ramps on the basis of proximity to other
ramps.
