permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance.
The applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) this pro-
ject is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement has been obtained from
adjacent riparian landowners certifying that they have no
objections to the proposed work.

This correspondence is in reference to your letter of February 27, 1998 whereby as
attorney for Mrs. Harvey Civils, you stated objections to the proposed reconfiguration
ROGER N. SCHECTER of the docks at the Comfort Suite, the adjacent riparian property downstream of Mrs.
DIRECTOR Civils. The Comfort Suites docks are located at 218 East Front, adjacent the Neuse
River, in New Bern, Craven County. This letter also serves as a follow up to your
April 3, 1998 telephone conversation with Mr. Ted Tyndall of my staff.
The North Carolina Division of Coastal Management has given careful consideration
to your objections and has determined that the project is consistent with the appropriate
rules and regulations of the Division. Consequently, the Division issued CAMA
General Permit #019801-C on April 2, 1998 which authorized the reconfiguration of
the subject docks. This permit also authorized the construction of a 12' X 24' open -
sided gazebo at the waterward end of downstream dock.
If you wish to appeal this permit decision, you may file a request with the Director of
the Division of Coastal Management, Department of Environment and Natural
Resources within 20 days of the permit decision. If you have any questions regarding
this matter, please don't hesitate to contact me at my Morehead City Office (919-808-
