Re; Permit # 016351
Dear Mr. Pate,
Remember us, Wilbur and Evelyn West? You issued us a permit
to build a bulkhead to replace our old one. The issue date was
6/25/96 and the expiration date was 9/25/96, We were on
vacation and received the permit on 7/1 /96 when we returned.
Our contractor was on another job and before we could order
materials and get started, Hurricane Bertha hit this area. We had a
lot of wind damage to our home and repairing our home took
priority over the bulkhead. Then before we could get started again,
Hurricane Fran hit with more wind and flood damage. We had a lot
more repairs due to the storm surge. Before we realized it, our permit
had expired. In the meantime, I had knee surgery and eye surgery
and am just now able to tackle the bulkhead,
We would be eternally grateful if we could get an extension on
our permit. Our contractor says he can get to it by mid spring or
early summer, He has been working steadily since the storms
repairing homes badly damaged.
We have a permit from the Dept. of the Army Corps of
Engineers # 197800080-expiration date December 31, 1999 so
it would not be necessary to write to them.
Please advise.
Sincerely,
Wilbur A West
Evelyn G. West
