Watkins 605 Bridgewater Drive Atlanta, GA 30328 Dear Mr. Watkins: January 7, 1997 A ; I FED 1 1 199 RE: Denial of CAMA General Permit Request After reviewing your request in conjunction with the development standards required by the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), it is my determination that no permit may be granted for the project you have proposed. This decision is based on my finding that your request violates N.C.G.S. 113A-120(8) which requires that all applications be denied which are inconsistent with CAMA guidelines. You have requested to construct a bulkhead on the waterward side of your property, located at 1715 Canal Drive, Sunset Beach, in Brunswick County. Your request is inconsistent with 15A N.C.A.C. 7H.1101 which states that: This permit will allow the construction of bulkheads and the placement of riprap for shoreline protection in the public trust waters and estuarine waters AEC's according to authority provided in Subchapter 7J.1100 and according to the following guidelines. This permit will not apply to shoreline protection within the ocean hazard AEC. Should you wish to appeal my decision to the Coastal Resources Commission or request a variance from that group, please contact me so I can provide you with the proper forms and any other information you may require. Appeal notices must be received by the Division of Coastal Management in Raleigh within 20 days of your receipt of this letter in order to be considered. Sincerely, e3&LOIUV E. F.
